Kenton “Kenny” Joseph Adair, 86, passed away on Nov. 7, 2021. Kenny was born on July 14, 1935, in Berlin, New Hampshire to John and Jennie Adair. Kenny was born and raised in Berlin, NH and loved telling stories about his childhood memories growing up on the East Coast. He graduated from Berlin High School in 1953 where his love of sports began. Kenny found his way to Pueblo by way of the U.S. Army in 1957, as he was stationed in Fort Carson, CO. Soon after he met his loving wife, Nini, and the two married in September of 1958.
He received his B.A. from the then Southern Colorado State College and his Masters from Adams State College in 1975. Kenny worked as a Clinical Recreation Therapist at the Colorado State Hospital for thirty two years where he also took on the task of rebuilding the hospital's 17th Street softball field. He managed the Local 2102 CF&I softball team, organized and hosted countless tournaments over twenty years and helped run the Pueblo Independent Softball League along with the El Rey League. In his spare time, you could find Kenny umpiring softball games, officiating local basketball, football and baseball games, and playing slow-pitch for Coors Tavern and the Pueblo Merchants.
Later in life, he became known as “The Voice” of Runyon Field where he spent many a day’s announcing and scoring baseball and softball games. After dedicating nearly 60 years to Pueblo sports, he was honored in 2018 as an inductee into the Pueblo Softball Hall of Fame. He is preceded in death along with his twelve brothers and sisters. Kenny is also preceded in death by his sister-in-law Carmella Jones; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tony and Ellen Langoni; brothers-in-law, John Langoni and Oliver Madrid; and niece, Shawna Langoni.
