This prestigious award is named in memory of Pueblo Softball Hall of Fame Committee Founding Member, Tony Bobian, who passed away in 2021.

The 2022 “Tony Bobian Memorial” High School MVP selection was the highly recognized junior pitcher from Pueblo South High School, Emily Abraham.

The Pueblo Softball Hall of Fame Committee is proud to recognize our eighth annual Most Valuable High School Girls Softball Player from the Pueblo area, Emily Abraham from Pueblo South High School.

This remarkable athlete is the daughter of Domingo and Alicia Abraham.

Emily currently maintains a 4.2 cumulative Grade Point Average and is ranked 4th in her junior class.  She has received three academic letters, three athletic letters in softball, and one athletic letter in track. Emily is a member of the South High School’s Key Club and Girls Cabinet.

Emily has been a dominant force in the South-Central League. She has an earned run average of 1.80 and 178 strikeouts.

Emily is not only a force to be reckoned with on the mound but is also a powerhouse at the plate. In the 2021 season, she had a .525 slugging percentage, a .346 batting average, and .386 on base percentage.

As well as playing at South High School, Emily currently plays competitive travel ball with the Colorado Altitude. In order to practice with her team, Emily commutes to Colorado Springs multiple times a week. When Emily is not on the mound pitching, she can be found on the field playing first base.

This humble athlete credits her success on the softball diamond to her influential parents, Domingo, and Alicia.

Emily is so thankful to her father for coaching her for a majority of her softball career. He has supported Emily by taking her to softball camps, practices, and encouraging her to be the player that she is today. Emily is thankful to her grandfather, Richard Montoya, for always being there for her. He volunteers his free time prepping the softball field and is willing to work with Emily with on pitching and hitting. She would also like to thank her coaches Christie Koschke and Bob Zinanti who taught her the game. Emily is thankful for her mother, Alicia. She is always willing to catch Emily and teach her pitching drills to make her the pitcher that she is today.

Emily’s goal is to become a mechanical engineer and own her own business.
